Background

The Human Resource Management Programme focuses on building the capacity of key institutions and stakeholders involved in the conservation and management of the Magarini Mangrove Forest. This includes strengthening CFA governance, enhancing collaboration among stakeholder groups, and ensuring that personnel involved in forest protection, monitoring, and community mobilization are well trained and supported with the necessary skills to implement PFMP activities effectively.

Management Issues & Challenges

  • Limited coordination among stakeholders involved in mangrove management
  • Inadequate leadership and governance capacity within the CFA
  • Limited training opportunities for community groups and forest managers
  • Weak linkages among institutions supporting mangrove conservation

Management Objectives

  1. To enhance coordination among stakeholders through the establishment of functional management structures.
  2. To strengthen governance and leadership capacity of the CFA and related user groups.
  3. To provide training and capacity building to promote sustainable forest management, community participation, and effective conservation.

Key Management Actions

  • Establish a Forest Level Management Committee (FLMC)
  • Hold regular FLMC meetings to review progress and strengthen collaboration
  • Offer leadership and governance training to CFA officials
  • Train CFA management committee members on forest management
  • Conduct exchange visits for CFAs to learn best practices
  • Build capacity of CFA user groups through workshops and mentorship
  • Strengthen communication channels among stakeholders
