Background

The Infrastructure and Equipment Management Programme aims to improve and maintain essential physical structures and operational equipment needed for effective conservation, management, and protection of the Magarini Mangrove Forest. The PFMP identifies the need for new facilities, such as KFS stations, outposts, and a community resource centre, along with tools that support field activities including patrols, monitoring, research, and community engagement.

• Inadequate KFS infrastructure within the Magarini Mangrove Forest
• Lack of well-equipped outposts to support ranger deployment
• Insufficient equipment for surveillance, monitoring, and research
• Limited community-level infrastructure for training and resource access

Management Objectives

1. To provide and maintain adequate infrastructure that supports forest management and conservation.
2. To equip KFS and the CFA with the necessary operational tools for effective implementation of PFMP activities.

• Establish a proposed KFS forest station at Kibaoni
• Construct KFS outposts at Marereni, Ngomeni, and Kurawa
• Construct and fully equip a community resource centre for the CFA
